The Roots

I’ve enjoyed the cover of life hidden without the responsibility of feeling allowed to be my full self. I remember starting out in my late teens and early twenties just as the rise of social media was beginning. In my early days, I was wild and free on the interwebs of Myspace. Too wild, perhaps—that when a young kid from the aftercare program I worked at friended me, I found myself quickly quieted from the growing experience of the social networks, and the world of my free uninhibited voice became silenced at the awareness of all of my selves being visible in one place, online.

Well, that ends here. Welcome to the Salon. Where all the many varied and vast versions of me are finally discovering what it feels like to belong. A place where I invite others to sit alongside and, if daring, connect, play, and join me on this wonderfully curious adventure.
